The human form is the central inspiration for Mark Clark, an artist recognised for his skilled draughtsmanship and, to quote the late, renowned art historian and Times art critic Frank Whitford: “Mark’s nudes are technically amazing”. His work focuses on two main themes; the human figure and people from his travels in India.
The foundation of Mark’s work is drawing – the fundamental basis of art. This has translated not only across media to oils, pastels and print-making but also across continents. Mark’s extensive experience of India, its culture and people infuses his work with the colour and vibrancy of the sub-continent. This intensity is to be found in his portraits of Indian men and women.
Mark, a Loughborough College of Art and Royal Academy Schools graduate, has shown his work multiple times at the Royal Academy as well as galleries and collections in the UK and abroad.
