Nude Pastel Painting

A 3 hours work condensed into five minutes. Working directly from the nude model, Mark started by using pan pastels applied with different sized sponges. The purpose of this is to cover the work surface with an immediacy, and then slowly refining, using finer sponges to start to build the figure. This technique enables Mark to highlight the darks and lights to create the 3D form quickly.
